Technical and Design Director - Offsite Modular Construction
Job Purpose:
To lead and establish our Elegancia Modular offsite construction volumetric and pod system design and implementation. It also requires developing a competent team of Engineers for the use of innovative, cost-effective offsite construction techniques with Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) a key principle across all fields of the design process from planning to completion.
Driving and finalizing key aspects of design, assessing buildability, value engineering, liaising with the architects, structural engineers, other consultants, factory production and site installation team to ensure the smooth flow of detailed information throughout project lifecycles.
Job Responsibilities:
Utilizing experience in offsite construction throughout the entire project cycle for the design of our volumetric steel modular and pod system both of which will be for turnkey solution.
Capable of leading, implementing structural engineering knowledge is a crucial part of the role from structural detailing to calculation analysis. Co-ordination of our in-house design team to facilitate the modularization of Architect drawings and find best solutions within our established design parameters to deliver a manufactured offsite system solution and co-ordinate with Third-party consultants when required.
Strong understanding of DFMA and the interface with conventional build to prepare detailed factory 2D & 3D shop-drawings leading on to project as-built drawings.
Review specifications, drawings, and bill requirements to define offsite scope for the project and interpretation of design standards established by local jurisdictions.
Lead the process for establishing our offsite system applicable Third-Party Accreditation and the various testing required such as fire, thermal, wind loads, acoustic, sustainability to achieve the approved requirements so we can compete in the construction market with confidence.
Adoption of applicable Code and Standards to ensure our offsite system faces no obstacles for the pre-qualification, validation, and certification stages pre-post project development phase.
Execute value-engineering and continuous improvement methodology integration to optimize the offsite system though our factory operations, site modular installation and finishes activities.
Establish feasibility reports and related budgeting to enhance product development for us to compete effectively and efficiently with conventional build and other offsite companies in the market.
Contribute to the development of annual business plans for the assigned areas of responsibility to support the achievement of financial objectives.
Monitor, control, assess, evaluate, and report key performance indicators related to the business unit, to track performance and recommend corrective actions.
Lead the performance management policies, career progression and activities of direct reports by setting annual objectives, identifying training opportunities, mentoring, coaching, and providing constructive feedback to improve their performance. Ensure that the team’s design and technical expertise are professionally optimized to deliver high-quality products.
In conjunction with the CCEO & General Manager, establish an efficient and effective structure and resource allocation for Design Projects, both internal and external, to ensure smooth workflow of projects and optimal utilization of resources.
Provide input into the preparation and consolidation of the Design Department budget, monitor financial performance during the year and identify areas of unsatisfactory performance (if any), and recommend mitigating actions.
Oversee design-related projects, initiate Project Identification, define service brief and complexity category, and act as the main consultant for all Elegancia Modular, design requirements and overall, the project teams performance at all times to ensure achieving and exceeding the Client requirements and needs.
Lead, coordinate and establish the Design services scope of work templates, schedule of resources, potential design service sub-contractors list, list of specific deliverables, and matrix of responsibilities by defining the role and responsibilities of each project identity or individuals.
Suggest and recommend the hierarchy of the flow of information in line with specific project priority and sensitivity.
